Day trip by canoe down 15 km (9 miles) of the beautiful San Juan River near Port Renfrew. 10-hour day including travelling time (six hours canoeing). Summer low water necessitates wading in river at numerous shallows and pushing canoe through. Easy grade 1-2 paddle, no experience necessary. A canoe trip is an excellent way to view wildlife and birdlife - you may see Roosevelt Elk, Black-Tailed Deer, and Black Bears - spring or fall are the best times, prime time is September through October when salmon are spawning. See beaver dams. Birdlife includes Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Herons, Ducks, shorebirds, Kingfishers, and many others. See 1000 year old Sitka Spruce and ancient Red Cedar trees. Lunch included. 2 persons $300; 3 persons $350; 4-6 persons $95 each.Bears and Eagles galore! ![]()
